"Dasupersprint - base trim is enough" (dasupersprint)

Lincoln showed the 2017 MKZ about 2 months ago. It shares the platform, 400hp engine, drivetrain and styling (front) with the Continental. Will it be the bargain?

I’m disappointed in Lincoln for giving up on the split grille. It wasn’t great, but I was warming up to it and it was unique.
Also, the MKZ has verrry Audi headlights. But I'll forgive it, because from the hood rearward it's all Ford/Lincoln.

The Fusion Sport will be the bargain because that’s all these are

I can’t get behind the new grill design. I LOVED the split grill.
I honestly thought Lincoln was really onto something with this design.

But you just lost 75hp in the process. Why not say that the Fusion 2.0T AWD is the bargain?

Because I don’t really care. All of them are FWD biased. Just buy an ATS-V, it’s better.

Actually, the AWD used in the Fusion Sport and the AWD used in the MKZ 3.0T are not the same systems. The MKZ uses the same one that the Focus RS uses.

Me too. I thought it was done pretty well on the MKZ, though on the other hand it was god-awful on the MKT.
It was something different, and I think it could’ve been tweaked into looking nice.
The new Lincolns are certainly handsome cars, but they’re not terribly distinctive, either. I think Lincoln has always had a little bit of eccentricity, and it would be nice to see them stick to it.
That said, these new cars both look great from a visual and performance standpoint. I’m looking forward to getting a peek at them when I go to NAIAS next week.

Is the Continental actually on the same platform as the Fusion/MKZ though? Because none of the coverage I’ve seen about it has said anything about the platform.
Also, only the Continental comes with individually-adjustable thigh bolsters , and let me tell you, I am a thigh bolster enthusiast .

If it wasn’t for the Conti’s weird door handles, and slightly different lights I couldn’t tell you which car is which.

It might be the bargain but that interior in the Continental is possible the best I have seen in an American car in some time.
